Elmsford is a village in Westchester County, fully contained within the borders of the town of Greenburgh, NY. The area was largely farmland throughout its early history, with the construction of railroads in the 19th century bringing new prominence to the area. Elmsford was incorporated as a village in 1910, and was named for a giant elm tree (since deceased) which served as a local landmark. As of 2010, Elmsford had a population of 4,664 residents.
