Susan Difate, RN
A graduate of The Mount Vernon Hospital School of Nursing, Susan was awarded the Board of Trustee’s Scholarship, upon graduating at the top of her class. She was also the Vice President of the Student Nurse Association of Westchester during her years as a student nurse. The majority of her clinical experience took place at United Hospital Medical Center, in Port Chester, which, unfortunately, is now closed. While at United Hospital, and before coming to the Grove at Valhalla, Susan worked in the ER, ICU, GI lab, Clinic, and Medical units. She helped to open the forty bed Skilled Long Term Care Dialysis Unit at the hospital, which was a first in Westchester County. She transitioned from staff nurse, to unit manager, interim Director of Nursing, and finally, MDS Coordinator. She enjoys her daily interaction with staff, residents, and their families at the Grove. She shares her long term experience and knowledge, on a regular basis. Her clinical skills involve the gathering of clinical data to establish an appropriate basis for Medicare reimbursement. She is a long standing member of the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators, and is certified in the MDS process.
